Babysitter

Our very first non-family babysitter. Albina came today just for a trial run. Liya was with her for a while and then a short time after Liya left I showed up. She spent three hours with Mikael: watched him nap, fed him, took him for a walk (she didn't get along all that well with the Ergo), and generally seemed to think he was the best.

Missing pictures

Some pictures went missing for no obvious reason. Sorry about that.

They have been found or replaced and the blog is back to its normal beautiful self.

Bathing like a big boy

Hava gave Mikael a bath like a big boy, without a separate baby seat.
He seemed to think it was pretty interesting and they both had a very
nice time and took a very long time about it. Liya and I still
haven't tried it. You can also see in the later pictures that Shaked
is taking a bath right near by.

Friday morning after Aikido

On Friday morning, Liya went from Pilates to work, and I took Mikael with me to Aikido. I was teaching, so it was a little strange, but it basically worked out. He wiggled around on some mats I set up for him during the beginning of class, but eventually quieted down. He slept for the middle hour of class, and work up again about 15 minutes from the end. During the last 10 minutes of class, I just carried him on me, and that seemed to work pretty well and amused the students.

Anyway, after class, we met Liya on Ben Gurion Boulevard and she and Mikael were quite happy to see each other which is what I captured.

Givat Ada

Mikael, Shahar, and Liya relaxing on the couch in Givat Ada. Shahar also was enjoying a nice foot massage.

More motor activity

More demonstrations of Mikael's latest motor achievments.

Shaking his booty

Mikael has learned how to stand on all fours and rock back and forth. He's been doing it for about a week, and does it at every possible opportunity. He is a very dark video showing this exciting new feat.

Ikea

Mikael went with Liya and Nurit and Adi to Ikea to buy kitchen cabinets for the new clinic that they are opening. It's too bad that the pictures didn't come out so well, but I figured that the first time in Ikea needed to be commemorated.

Grinberg exercises

Mikael keeping himself amused in the University while Liya does her Grinberg exercises.

Even freer

Eventually, of course, the cloth diaper he was using for modesty got left completely aside. Here he is now with nothing to hide. I'm sure that when my son is a celebrity, he will regret the fact that I posted that last one on the internet.

Clothes free

Some expert (there are so many of them, and I can never keep them straight) told us that it was healthy physically and psychologically for Mikael to spend more time nude. I didn't want you to be worried about his physical and psychological health, so here are some nice naked shots of our son.

Moving around

Mikael is getting more and more mobile with every passing day. Strangely, he has lost interest in turning over too much, but he's crawling backwards quite quickly. Unfortunately, as soon as I take a camera he just smiles and poses, so its hard to capture the whole range of activities. Here are a couple of videos I took yesterday.

In the first one, he demonstrates that he could roll over if he wanted to, but he just doesn't feel the need. He also shows how to crawl backwards and to do what Maayan-Shahar calls the 'five point crawl.'

In the second one he shows that shortly he will be able to sit up all on his own.

Lazy afternoon

Ola is spending the weekend with us and helped out with some babysitting. Later, we all went to Aikido and on the way home Liya and I did some errands. It was all a bit too much for Mikael who eventually fell asleep in the Ergo.

Picnic in Park Hayarkon

In what we hope is the beginning of a tradition, Liya and her friends gathered in Park Hayarkon for a picnic. Mikael went with them, but I went on a long walk with my scientist friends.

Visiting scientists

Reza Shadmehr and Xiaoqin Wang from Baltimore came to visit yesterday and today. They're on their way to a conference up in Jerusalem. On Friday, Reza and I took Mikael out for a long stroll down to the sea and then back up by Diyada and Lechem Erez and the Juice place. After that, Liya and I made Hraime' and chicken patties and we all had a grand meal at home. On Saturday (today, really), Reza and Xiaoqin and I took a walk down through Kikar Rabin, Dizengoff Center, Rothschild, Shenkin, Nahalat Binyamin, Suzanne Dala and Jaffo and back. It was a long walk, and they both took lots of pictures, but Mikael had gone to the picnic instead, so those pictures will have to be part of a different blog. Mikael can put them up when he makes a blog about his dad someday.
